The OMG of Chick Flicks

Written by my friend Constance Hayden

I have never been a really big fan of chick flicks but after turning on the Direct.tv one night and watching “27 Dresses” that all changed. The movie was made in 2008 starring Katherine Heigl and James Marsden as the main characters of this romantic comedy. Katherine Heigl plays “Jane” a perpetual bridesmaid.

After being a bridesmaid in 27 weddings, it's now time to face the most difficult of them all, her younger sister's wedding. To make matters worse, Tess is marrying George, Jane's boss who she is secretly in love with. To follow all the drama is Kevin, played by James Marsden, who is a wedding reporter that meets Jane at a wedding. Kevin is determined to write an article on the permanent bridesmaid but doesn't plan to tell her. As the movie continues Kevin begins to fall for the beautiful bridesmaid but before he can make his move, his unfinished article is published, bashing both Jane and her sister. Seeming like the end, I was crushed, but of course a good romantic movie would never end that way. After a witty turn of events, Jane crushes Tess's engagement to George and resolves to find Kevin. In turn, Kevin and Jane fall in love and in the last shot of the movie every bride is wearing their own bridesmaid's dresses at her wedding.
