More Etsy of the weird, unusual, creepy, strange, disturbing

Here I go surfing the web again and I found more unusual things at etsy.com.

Here is five more things I found today :

Dollar Origami Butterfly Ring

On Etsy for five dollars you can purchase your own $1.00 bill that has been folded in Origami style and wear it as a ring!

T-Shirt One dollar bill origami

You can even have it as a T-Shirt!!! and don't forget you have to pay shipping and handling!!!!!

Set of teeth SOAP

You can get these pair of awesome soap that was made with " love " and they "They were made from hand poured natural vegetable glycerine and are vegan friendly!" Because I would really enjoy washing myself with a pair of teeth soap !!!! what is even better is ," Custom orders are very welcome! If you would like the soaps in any different colors, just let me know and I will make them according to your request! :)" Yes, I would like them in Green. I want some green teeth soap to wash myself off with , yes, that sounds good to me! And they are $5 with $8 shipping and handling cost! Now that is a deal!

This beauty scares the CRAP out of me!!!!

The ghost of anastasia

What is more is the description horrifies me , "Anastasia loves to sing and dance. She doesn’t really mind too much that she and her sister Alexandra never got to the ball. She’s much happier now that she doesn’t have to worry about behaving properly, and meeting the stuffy old Prince.""

What is better is she only cost $92.50 and has royal mail shipping costs.

And lastly who wouldn't want a photo of betty boop in the nude... or rather BONES:

Betty Boop skeleton

She only costs $57.00

Again, I keep telling myself that I am going to "mcgyver" something up and sell it on Etsy or have josie post her drawings and stuff there to sell. I swear we would make money!

Some of the weirdest things are on Etsy....

The other day while talking on the phone with a friend of mine I was just browsing through Etsy.com it is that place where you can find really cool handmade gifts, vintage stuff as well, but most of all you can find the STRANGE, bizarre and even weird.

So I am just going to list 5 really weird things today :

First of all, there is a thing called Steampunk Goggles Glasses. They look like something you would find in a time traveler classic novel.
There are really quite UNIQUE and I think that if someone were to find a time machine or go on a "mission" as they state this might be good for them. It also might be good to just to have in your living room as a art piece that people can talk about.

GET YOUR CUSTOM HUMAN EYES HERE ! Yes, you read that right ! For the small price of $35.00 you can get your very own set of human eyes! What alien wouldn't be happy with this?! On this person's website it states," Third eyes represent clarity, openness, a heightened awareness, and enlightenment.

They're also pretty creepy =P" Well, at least they admit it is creepy. I am now enlightened in the world of creepy and have a better heightened awareness for weird things thanks to these human eyes.

Cotton balls with smiley faces or monster teeth called Yetis can now hang from your ears when you go to a party . You will get so many compliments and for the price of $15.00 it's a steal for your own pair of cottonball earrings!

Jeffrey Dahmer wouldn't be prouder of these pair of earrings ! Who wouldn't love to wear a pair of plastic arms dangling from their ears? I know I would! It will only cost me ten dollars to have someone mutilate a barbie, use a hot glue gun, and make a pair of earrings that would make any serial killer proud!

And last I present you with the knitting in biology 101 that I would love to give to my high school biology teacher since she loved opening up dead animals. I know I would really enjoy sitting there making one of these . It would make my heart give a certain pitter patter to the nature of animals as they are being opened up for experiments. I can just imagine the next pattern would be the one where the frog is in the jar with the cotton ball holding on for dear life as his life passes away. I am not sure if this person got ANY sales but I know PETA would love to see this!

World's Greatest Dad

Can I please have the 1 hour and 38 minutes of my life back?

I voted 0 out of 5 stars because there was maybe NO moments of this movie I truly liked. The kid was rude, obnoxious, and disrespected his father , even his best friend was dumped on by this boy . Then he dies accidently by doing well I am not saying on here. Robin then writes the suicide note and hangs his son up in the closet looking like it was a suicide. The note gets published somehow then everyone likes this kid. Then Robin gets TV interviews, even meets a famous singer and a book deal out of this!

Almost has a better relationship with his gf ,even though I think he never really had one to begin with. Then tells the world at the last 10 minutes of the movie that nothing was real. 5 minutes of the movie was slow motion of him running through the hallway shaving off his clothes and diving into a pool in his self-reflecting moment. Then the end scene was 2 minutes of I didn’t care about you before and never really listened to you but now I am going to be your best friend to his son’s best friend moment. HORRIBLE.. I just couldn’t understand where they said it was HILARIOUS! there was NO hilarity. :( I am sorry Robin.. Thumbs down.

Again, this is just my opinion you are more than welcome to look for yourselves but on the suck-0-meter it rated up there with that one movie with that guy I can’t remember his name that gets eaten by zombies and then the movie ends. Yah, that movie!

A few of my favorite things

A friend of mine asked on her blog what were her friend’s favorite things. I quickly started to write some of mine realizing quickly I have a lot of happy things. I have been a little down lately, weakened by everything that surrounds me, feeling disconnected from life pretty much. This made me smile having to write all my happy things . I realized to that I have more, much more.

Here is what I wrote :

My daughter in all her moments even in the worst of times makes me happy, that time in the fall where the leaves turn colors and slowly drop to the ground, the moment the daffodils arrive with their gorgeous colors, snow when it isn’t that cold of wind but everything blanketed in luxurious white that makes things feel at peace, snowflakes that have a texture to it and ones that look like snowflakes, footprints in the sand and little sand crabs that tickle your toes, the smell of the salt that lingers in the air at the beach, the sound of the waves as it pounds at your feet, kittens that purr up against your bosom, babies that smell like fresh-baked bread or fresh linen, stars that twinkle at night and form wonderful things, the moon shining at me , books, the smell of old book pages , the feel of typeface with its embossed edges, quill pens and their magical ink, pearl jam, rocky road ice-cream, Josie’s drawings, her smile, her laughter, her tears….

now what is yours?

Writing Process

For my english class I had to write a discussion board thread about my writing process or style depicted on one of ten different pictures that she put on a power point presentation for us.

I wrote the following (mine was a picture of a tree with many branches and leaves hanging from them)

I think that my writing style is like that of picture number nine. I often start from the bottom and work my way up and branch out to different things. There are always new things that I add or take away and that are a lot like the leaves of the tree. They will bloom during warmer times which are the period of time for me that I got something hot going on inside my head where the fire is brewing and I can actually come up with different ideas. Then there is the time of the winter month where the leaves start turning that deep brown color and slowly fall off the trees. That would be the period of times where my creativity is not all that it is cracked up to being and I can’t write to save my life. Where I have absolutely no ideas that are thrusting through and the writer’s block hits me. Where there is so much stress of having to write a million papers in a short period of time for classes that my ideas aren’t blooming they are dropping to the ground and crumbling beneath my feet and I can’t seem to get ahead no matter how much I try. Unlike this picture though my writing is often colorful and full of description. This picture doesn’t depict that it is more black and white –easily read, easily manipulated or put together for that matter. It is all in a coherent nature where my writing is often not that coherent and I am often finding myself editing it several times or throwing the piece away all together , much like the leaves that fall on the ground

Dawn of the Dreadfuls

Ever since I was a little girl stories of people in faraway galaxies, magical kingdoms, and even the undead became an obsession with me. I wanted to know more and started delving into the world that is science fiction. Even if it wasn’t science fiction and just some mystery plot from the Hardy boys I was always quite curious how the story was going to end. I sometimes was disappointed by the ending for a lot of stories but then I started to wonder where the beginning actually was. What made the wicked witch of the west so wicked? Did things like zombies actually exist and where did they come from?

Thanks to the magical imaginations of some of my favorite authors and a few unknowns I started to get my answers to a bunch of questions that have been nagging at me for years. When I first picked up a Jane Austen book I was intrigued by her writing style, her heart that she put in it, the characters that entranced me so much that in social studies class I was actually sitting there reading Pride and Prejudice and not my actual lesson. I always wondered what these characters would be like before these stories were wrote or how they would be years after these stories were wrote. Jane Austen never really made a sequel to her novels. They were just left for the imagination.

I never thought that one day I would wake up and walk into a bookstore and find that very book that I was entranced with in social studies class to be sitting on the shelf at the front desk advertising it had zombies in it now. At first I was appalled that they could do this to Jane Austen of all people and then as I picked it up and investigated the back cover I was interested in how the story might be. I will admit I never bought myself a copy that day. I have too much homework in my college studies to actually sit there and read a book at times but my friend did buy a copy that day and I told myself I would read it later on. Later on was two weeks ago when in between homework I decided to pick it up and read it a little each day.

I couldn’t imagine this there was Elizabeth Bennett and her sisters kicking Zombie tail. It was so exciting and weird at the same time. It left little to the imagination and was still sort of in Jane Austen’s writing style. The characters were all there even Mr. Darcy that everyone is so fond of. I couldn’t believe the illustrations throughout the book as well it was amusing. I thought to myself that if everyone in High School was made to read something like this they might actually get a kick out of classic literature and maybe even want to read the real thing. Who knows? We might start an epidemic and everyone gets hooked on classic novels!

It was a great read in my spare time and I never thought I would actually enjoy it so much. The imagination of Seth Grahame-Smith who as he states” once took a class in English literature” has to be commended on his creativity in putting together this book. It must have really taken hours to figure out how to keep Austen’s tone throughout the book yet adding zombies and a little mayhem within.

As soon as I seen that Quirk Classics came up with another book “Dawn of the Dreadfuls” from a friend of mine’s face book page I was also intrigued. She signed up to get an advance copy of the book. It was four years before the Pride and Prejudice with Zombies was written and this time by a different author named Steve Hockensmith. Mr. Hockensmith being a reporter and prize winning novelist had more experience than the previous author and that made me think the book might actually be good.

I signed up for the contest as well and got an advanced copy myself from Quirk Classics.
I am going to be perfectly truthful; I was really disappointed by this book. I thought it would have a little more context and what happened to make the zombies appear. Not just the fact that someone has awoken from their grave and now it is happening all over again. There was no background to the “dreadfuls “. The characters were not straight out of an Austen book (maybe a movie and even then I can picture better); there was no Austen feel for a bunch of it. Elizabeth and Jane could have been so much better in this book. They just didn’t feel like themselves. There were some really funny parts in this book but that was way in the beginning and towards the end I felt a bit dreadful myself. I think if Seth Grahame- Smith had written this one it might actually be better to tell you the truth. I don’t think this author really got the concept of Jane Austen and really don’t know if he ever read Austen at all.

Don’t get me wrong on Quirk classics, I so far have really enjoyed their books and will be more than excited to read more in the future. I suppose I was expecting a little more from this book and wasn’t truly satisfied with the feeling of this book.

Here is some exciting news though for anyone who is going to read this book (and you may feel differently about it) there is a contest going on from QUIRK that you can win one of 50 Quirk Classics Prize packs. Each prize pack, with a retail value of more than $100, will include: An advance copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls, Audio books of Pride and Prejudice with Zombies and Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, A password redeemable online for sample audio chapters of Dawn of the Dreadfuls, An awesome Dawn of the Dreadfuls poster, A Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Journal, and a box set of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies postcards! You just have to go to Quirk blog site and mention my blog (Randomness of a Prose) and you will automatically be entered. Good Luck!

Dawn of the Dreadfuls

Shoot first and pray you live

This movie I expected from what I read to be a western and a decent western. Instead i found myself staring at nonsense. The synopsis of this movie from the website reads, " Red Pierre has come up from the mountains of a Mexican Monastery to avenge his dying father, who had been fatally wounded by the outlaw, Bob McGurk. A man the locals say cannot be beaten to the draw.

But before Pierre can meet the invincible gunman, he’s picked up by Jim Boone and his gang, the Cut-Throats. Despite the protests of the other outlaws, Boone makes Pierre a member of his gang, a replacement for his dead son. And so Pierre rides with the wild marauders, all skilled gunfighters, including Boone’s wild young daughter, Jack.

At last the scene is set for the showdown between Pierre and McGurk, but even when it takes place and a wounded McGurk leaves the range, the blood feud is not been settled. One of them still has to be killed.

Presented as a graphic homage to the classic Spaghetti Westerns, SHOOT FIRST AND PRAY YOU LIVE is a tale of love and Revenge."

Okay, sounds good right?!... I am thinking cool a western, I haven't watched a western in a long time. Oh where is the Duke when you need him? This movie stunk. I only got half way into it to before I decided to turn it off.

This movie has 70's tunes the old whaaa waaaa and spider-man swooshing noises in the backgrounds and pauses at times to give you in big bold yellow letters who the heck these gun men were . It just seemed a little corny. Red shoots this guy in the beginning of the movie. Then you see blood spurt out of a half gone finger like something you would see in an old horror flick. All of a sudden words are flipping up on the screen ONE and it shows the finger, TWO and it shows another wound .. etc.

I couldn't finish this movie to save my life. This movie had no point what so ever to it besides this guy running around with other outlaws who he was kidnapped by a deranged man and made to live with them. He has guns he could have shot him and got away instead he makes a deal to stay as long as he can use this guy's posse.

I wanted to shoot myself 10 minutes into this flick instead I just turned it off. No use watching it, it sucks.

That is just my opinion. You can base your own.

The Written Argument

I guess next week we are delving into the written argument. After reading the book and things online I had to write up what I felt the written argument was all about in a discussion board.

Here is what I wrote :

The purpose of a written argument is to clearly get your point across in a believable fashion. It is also to show the pros and cons of an item(s) and show the facts about the item(s) in question. You should also include the who , what, where, when and how of specifics to make readers understand your point of view and why you are going for one side or the other. Sometimes you may have both sides of an argument that you feel strongly about and just want to get feedback from other people as well.

An argument should accomplish the fact that this is your point of view and you are voicing your opinion. That this is how you feel -strongly about something and that you aren’t just saying something to get someone’s goat. You need to be subjective to the outside elements as well when you are writing an argument – giving your point of view, your goals or statitics that you have found but also being a little crass as well when writing it.

It should effect readers by getting them to think about a different side of things. They may have the con of everything and not seeing the pros of it. You may want to show them the pros of it. Such as stem cell research that has been argumented about since I can remember. Michael J. Fox went full throttle to try to get stem cell research pursued by the right people by arguing his side of views and what stem cell research really is and how he feels about it. It made people think about the other side along with giving them a little bit of background knowledge they may not have had to begin with. Things in this nature are quite “delicate” but if you feel strongly about something you need to present it to people in a manner that they can understand where you are coming from and why. What is the purpose of this argument and what you really want to accomplish.

The sort of strategies and factors effect the outcome of written arguments could be a good outcome people actually listen and see your point of view on things. They can also argue back with you giving you more ideas to your point of view. You need to focus on what you feel really passionate about to make a good argument. If you accomplish that people will often change their minds, be focused on another side instead of the side they are on. You might also have a bad side where they just say “forget you” basically and keep going on with their own strategies and guidelines of their own argument about how they feel about things. Sometimes you can change someone’s mind and sometimes you can’t. It is all in the delivery of it that makes a different.

Arguments do not have to be a winner or a loser. Sometimes you lose a great deal on your argument. If it is something you are truly passionate about then you can keep arguing , keep finding more facts , keep going at it . Sometimes you might win. Again , It all depends on the audience , the delivery , and how passionate you truly feel about the argument .

If I was going to teach someone how to argue I would probably start by finding out what they are truly passionate about, what they may want to change about a certain thing (i.e stem cell research). You need to find your passion , your voice to make an argument presentable . It is you who is doing the arguing so you need to make your voice heard and known.

Some of the principles I would have to teach them is even though you are on the pro or con side of the item you need to see the other side. You also need to look into the statitics and facts there are based on this item. You can’t go full throttle on anything without knowing the background of something. This sometimes will cause problems if you don’t know the other side of things . How are you going to present an argument that you don’t fully know about yourself?

The skills to be successful would be compassionate to the other point of view, subjective to the things surrounding the item in question, passionate about what they are arguing about, keeping focused on your pro or con and what you truly want to get out of this argument, you have to know people – your audience- etc in order to understand how others will feel about this.

The arguer has a huge responsibility not to be to uncompassionate to the other point of view because if they , again, as I stated don’t know the full true body of it all they will either make enemies or friends – succeed or fail. It is all up to that person to be as subjective as possible not trying to offend anyone but at the same time keeping your voice heard.

Give a cup of Joe to a Joe

While I was just talking to my mother , I started playing on facebook. You know how they have the little tiny ads for various things on the side? Well, one actually caught my attention. It is a really great idea! Green Beans Coffee is supporting the troops by taking donations to send coffee to the troops! You wouldn’t see Starbucks doing this!

You can even get a T-shirt that says “brewed in Iraq” or ” brewed in Iran” and a http://www.greenbeanscoffee.com/coffeecard/that you can send to your joe overseas for coffee! ” For each Coffee Card purchase, Green Beans will contribute an ADDITIONAL 10% IN DOLLAR VALUE to your Coffee Card’s face value. Cards are available in any denomination starting at $20.”

When you make a donation which comes in denominations as little as $2 to as high as you want it to be you get to write a message to the troop/soldier that will be personally delivered to them! You can pay by Paypal or Credit card and it is all safe. I , myself, just purchased a cup of coffee for a Joe. I think this is a wonderful idea and I don’t know why someone didn’t come up with it sooner!

I have a cousin who is over there right now. I wish it could be him that I send the coffee to but whoever gets it I hope they really enjoy it.

You can also find out more about this on Twitter and Facebook – go look now and make your donation!

This website did NOT ask me to advertise NOR am I a member of this website or affiliates as I said I just ran across it and found this to be a wonderful idea I had to share!

Personality Test

Posted Previously on Wordpress.com

So, part of my psychology homework was to do some personality tests and say if they are correct and how I felt about them.

http://users.wmin.ac.uk/~buchant/wwwffi/

This is the five factors personality test and this is my results : ( my thoughts are on the ends of each reason)

Factor I : Extraversion (AKA Surgency)

This trait reflects preference for, and behavior in, social situations. People high in extraversion are energetic and seek the company of others. Low scorers (introverts) tend to be more quiet and reserved. Compared to other people who have taken this test, your score on this dimension (36) is relatively high.

I am rarely energetic and have a tough time finding the “energy ” to get things done but seem to muster them up anyhow.
II am not quiet or reserved so the high score did work for me.

Factor II : Agreeableness (AKA Friendliness)… See more

This trait reflects how we tend to interact with others. People high in agreeableness tend to be trusting, friendly and cooperative. Low scorers tend to be more aggressive and less cooperative. Compared to other people who have taken this test, your score on this dimension (34) is relatively high.

I got the high score here which says i tend to be trusting, friendly and cooperative. I am very trusting of people and I think sometimes this gets me in trouble. I tend to try not to trust people as much as I used to though. I am a friendly person – I don’t try to cause harm on others, etc. I am somewhat cooperative I am known to be very argumentative and will tell you exactly how i feel.

Factor III : Conscientiousness (AKA Will or Dependability)

This trait reflects how organized and persistent we are in pursuing our goals. High scorers are methodical, well organized and dutiful. Low scorers are less careful, less focussed and more likely to be distracted from tasks. Compared to other people who have taken this test, your score on this dimension (48) is relatively high.

I received a high score here which tells me that i am methodical, well organized and dutiful and I would just like to say I don’t , personally, see me as ANY of those. I can be quite cluttered and unorganized at times. .. and methodical is not a term I would ever see myself using to describe me.

Factor IV : Neuroticism (AKA Emotional Stability)

This trait reflects the tendency to experience negative thoughts and feelings. High scorers are prone to insecurity and emotional distress. Low scorers tend to be more relaxed, less emotional and less prone to distress. Compared to other people who have taken this test, your score on this dimension (21) is about average.

I am an average person it says- I don’t know if this is GOOD or BAD (lol) but I don’t have a tendency to have negative thoughts. I am a very glass is half empty person at times but aren’t we all. WE all deal with stress and troubles in our lives and I guess this test would be dependant upon what we are dealing with at that certain time in our lives. I am a very emotional person, i will give them that.

Factor V : Openness (AKA Culture or Intellect)

This trait reflects ‘open-mindedness’ and interest in culture. High scorers tend to be imaginative, creative, and to seek out cultural and educational experiences. Low scorers are more down-to-earth, less interested in art and more practical in nature. Compared to other people who have taken this test, your score on this dimension (27) is about average.

It states that I am about average on this … I am a very imaginative person, I can be very creative, i love culture and educational experiences, i am a also down to earth person who is interested in art and nature both though.

Hi everyone

First of all, I am Paulinerose (yes, that is my name). I was born in New Jersey and currently living in Indiana with my 8 year old little girl. I am a 34 year old that is going back to school for her library science degree! I am excited about going back to school.

Life is changing for me frequently so you will often see stuff about my life on here- I try to make fun of things as much as possible...sometimes it isn't that possible.

This is my first BLOGGER entry! Be forewarned I will often post cartoons, quips, quotes, my poetry, photos I found or took, sweepstakes that I entered ( I have won in the past- and it really don't hurt to try), blogs that I found interesting, books that I have read, movies I have watched.... yes, all of this said I am pretty RANDOM!

Enjoy.
