Daisy Lion ??????
So there was this odd looking flower out where we live. It looked like a daisy and dandelion mixed together.
The other day at the bus stop we noticed it turned into giant puff balls......
So my mom sends me a photo message from the bus stop " FWD:
So the puff shreds and becomes this tall yellow weed-step 3????"
It is so weird. This has to be some weird mixed up flower thing.

BURGER KING ON GREENBUSH STREET
Today, I went there with my mother & 8 year old daughter. My mother got really unfriendly service and then waited there almost 5 minutes for a PIE! A PIE PEOPLE!!!! She was standing there while this one guy was doing nothing standing around and the manager was running the drive thru.
On top of it , I order and the card machines that the customer's swipe their own card is out of service so i hand my card to the lady who swipes it , holds it, wipes off her mouth (!!!!), keeps it in her hand, scratches her nose with my card and then hands it back to me!... She was wearing a hat but most of her hair was hanging out and there was a hair on the counter just floating on the register and eventually dropped off in front of me.
I get my drink cup which she put her finger in to hand to me and I asked for another cup... she handed to me properly that time ...
... I go to the drink counter and I am horrified. There is spillage everywhere including the floor. Someone can easily slip. I am bending in such a manner to not get anything on my clothes that it isn't even funny because I am watching other people do that to. Someone walked up there to complain there wasn't any straws and the dude came over and filled it STEPPING over the spillage on the floor. Him and two other people were just standing around. There was ONE car in the parking lot and a handful of people in the resturant. There was NO little cups for the ketchup and upon going up to the counter to tell them of the mess and the little cups that were missing I couldn't get one person's attention!
I am highly upset!
I put the ketchup onto a cup lid and prayed that it wouldn't fall through the little hole.
They never called me that my order was up there , I just happened to notice it sitting on the counter with people grabbing other orders with their hands and coats and clothes swiping my food! AHHHHHHHHH!
I don't know why I was almost put into an anxiety attack, I blame the heat and the ignorance of people that work in such a place that is supposed to be for customer service.
My 8 year old had NO toy in her bag and I had to go up there to get one. When they handed her a toy and we went to the seat it was for INDIANA JONES movie that has been way over with for a very long time now! Maybe they are recycling toys or what not but um.. seriously? a year old or longer toy?
The fries were okay but they were COLD, my chicken fries were to spicy and I couldn't even eat but three of them, my daughter's cheeseburger had cheese that wasn't even melted.
At some point I went into the bathroom to wash my hands and the sink was full of soap and what looked like ketchup ( I just hope it was ketchup!)- I didn't touch it. The paper towels were WET, the floor was dirty and looked like no one cleaned it in months! The toilets I don't even want to mention the toilets. I always had this thing about public toilets and usually put paper on the seat before I sit down and sometimes I just hold it in. These toilets weren't even worth that!... There was left overs in one toilet and some pee on the floor. It smelled worse than an old folk's nursing home and I worked in one before and I can tell you it was MUCH better!
I will NOT go in there for a long time and encourage others NOT to either until they clean up their act! argh!

ANDROID KARENINA- advanced copy!!!!!!
I am so excited that I have yet again been chosen to receive an advanced copy of a book from Quirk Classics!
I received my book about two days ago and already started reading it. It is from the classic novel by Tolstoy called Anna Karenina but this is actually called Android Karenina.
If you don't know about Quirk classics they are the ones that have recently published Pride and Prejudice with Zombies, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, and the every more recently published Dawn of the Dreadfuls which is the sequel/prequel to P and P and Z.
I am very excited to have been chosen and will be publishing my review here on June 8, 2010!
Etsy of the Weird
Here is this week's top five :
This is called "September Blue" and it is by gjarvisjewerlyetc on etsy.com. Apparently, there are a bunch of people out there that have huge obsessions of cutting up barbie dolls and turning them into things like earrings , necklaces, keychains.( People look at me strange when I tell them I used to mutilate barbies when I was little but what they don't understand is I could be selling these now and make a profit from it!) I still don't understand the BRATZ feet key chain that I found at one time. I wish I could remember the URL so that I could share it with you all as well. This isn't creepy though, it is odd and I just guess that barbie parts are in high demand on etsy. Am I to understand it? Not really.
Who wouldn't want a Zombie rabbit holding a carrot on their coffee mug? Actually , I find it quite amusing. In reality if I had the $35.00 for this mug I would probably buy it for the heck of it. It is very unique and original and even in a way "cute".
Here is what the artist wrote on this , " (large)Zombie Rabbit And Carrot Coffee Mug is about 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" (5" wide with handle). It holds about 16oz. making it the perfect mug for all you coffee achievers out there.
This ceramic cup is wheelthrown and altered midrange porcelain with carved relief design. It is decorated with orange, green, and black underglazes. The glaze is transparent with a varied bluish tint. Interior glaze is black. Electric kiln fired to Cone 6.
Food safe. Diswasher safe. Avoid microwave use except for the quick coffee warm up - any longer and the clay gets too hot. Ouch. Never use on stove top. "
I actually know of a artist here in town where I live named Angela Vinson that owns the LaLa Gallery and she has these monsters that she makes that are pretty awesome! She has them as plushies , coffee mugs, art works, etc. Things like this are very unique and creative to me. I wish I had the talent to come up with these things that I could put on pottery. ( I am just not good with clay )
Here is the artist's profile on Etsy.com if you want to check out more of their uniqueness : http://www.etsy.com/people/barbaradonovan
I really don't know why anyone would want a vile of cemetary dirt but for $25.00 you can purchase some on Etsy.com. Seriously this makes me a little creeped out to tell you the truth. It is labeled as " Cemetery Dirt in Vintage Jar from Highgate Cemetery in London, England - Old Specimen Label Replica - Gothic" . I understand all the Gothic things out there and some of them I really find interesting. This I can't even fathom what you would do with it. Place it on your bookshelf and show your friends, " Hey dudes look what i got.. some old ass cemetary dirt..ha ha ha ." On the description it reads ," "Hey Mom! I want some dirt from where George Eliot and Karl Marx are buried!" That's what all the kids are saying these days isn't it?" Hmmmm.. I wonder if they can get me some Edgar Allen Poe cemetary dirt? That would be awesome! (not!).
Yes, this is a eyeball. It is for four bucks on Etsy.com. I don't know what else to say about this god awful thing except that my daughter could probably make this look better if she wanted to , plus who would want to purchase a fleece painted eyeball anyhow? What is its' purpose? The "artist" wrote " It is great to put it on your desk as a conversation starter or through it at someone or scare you family and friends with it. " First of all , I would never have it on my desk and if I did it would bring up conversations such as "did your daughter make that?" because it looks like a little kid put it together and second of all it is THROW not through. This would not scare anyone I know that is for sure. It is by Th1rte3nsCloset and they have other oddities for sale as well.
It is a greeting card made by Glen Hibline Illustration. The description reads ," The philosophical riddle regarding observation and reality that many great minds and people like Ophah and Sara Jessica Parker have pondered has finally been answered.
If a gnome poops in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Inside: Yes. Yes it does.
Now have a good day.
All greeting cards are 4x6 and ship in a protective cellophane sleeve."
Why would you want to send a card to someone about a Gnome pooping? Although, I find it funny because my best friend is a gnome- a fuzzy one. If he sees this he will probably laugh. Oh, I love how they can't even spell Oprah and would Oprah really be pondering Gnome poop? Maybe we should ask her!

Breathless- Hold your breath

Recently, I acquired the e-book copy of Breathless by Dean Koontz. I used to be a huge fan of Dean Koontz. In High School I would be checking out his books almost every week until I gulped up the entire collection ...or so I thought until one day I discovered there was other names that Dean Koontz wrote under such as David Axton for Prison of Ice, Brian Coffey for several titles including The Face of Fear (one of my favorites!), Surrounded, The Voice of the Night and the Wall of Masks, there is also other pen names including some you may have heard of like Deanna Dwyer (yes, i was shocked too!) who wrote Children of the storm (excellent book!), Dance with the Devil, The Dark of Summer, Demon Child and Legacy of Terror, then there is K.R Dwyer who wrote Chase, Dragonfly, Face of Fear *re-released under Koontz* (I own this copy and Koontz), and Shattered *re-released under Koontz* ( I have not had the privilege of reading yet), John Hill's the Long Sleep, a variety of books by Leigh Nichols, Anthony North's Strike Deep, Richard Paige's Door to December, Owen West , and Aaron Wolfe. All of these authors and probably more are really Dean Koontz.
I have really enjoyed all of Dean Koontz works. Something I think happened when Trixie, his beloved dog, passed on. His writing grew a little weary and I started to really not enjoy his books anymore. I really enjoyed " Your heart belongs to me" that was a great book and I gulped that up in just a few short days. It was one of those books that I wanted more at the end but for good reasons. Then, I decided since that book was good I bought a copy of " Relentless". I read all of it. I read every single page of that book in just a few short days as well. I thought it was leading up to something, that something good was to come at the end. I found nothing good. I was bored and disappointed and wanted to cry for even making myself lose time reading this book. That same day I finished reading it I listed it on Ebay. Someone bought it, I hope they liked it better than I did. There was also the " Husband " book. It also had the same feel that it was actually leading somewhere and then boom another disappointment. I think Husband came before Relentless though.
This all leads up to the newest book I decided to give it a go and read " Breathless" . It was a little dry in the beginning and I still decided to give it a chance. I was really enjoying all the cast of characters. It started to feel like the old Koontz. I thought perhaps I could actually get into this book. It had that old Dean Koontz energy you find in most of his writings. It was one of the Koontz books that starts with some random guy that leads up to other characters that somehow all are tangled in one web with each other somehow.
Breathless starts off with this random guy Grady Adams. He is just your average everyday Joe that makes furniture for a living and has a dog named Merlin who seems to be an awesome dog. Then we have Camille Rivers who is this everyday average veterinarian who has had a bad past (they never say what) and basically has sworn to protect all living animals no matter the risk. I really hate to say this I don't know why Camille was even in this book except for that Grady found some "creatures" that were of interest to a veterinarian. I was lost about where these two met, how they knew each other, etc. Plus, when Camille came in the picture we lost interest in Grady right away. His story was done and that was that.
There was a lot of unanswered questions in this whole book. I wanted to know so much more about everyone and I was just brought to a loss about it all. I wanted to really know more about Puzzle and Riddle the "creatures " that Grady found or rather they found him. I wanted to understand the nature of these beings but at the end it is poorly wrapped up to no satisfaction what so ever. It pretty much ends that things are "okay" now and they all live happily ever after . Why were those creatures there? Where did they come from? What is behind those eyes that he talks about so much? How were these creatures going to make life on Earth more better? I mean the end of this book wrapped up so poorly that if it had been an actual book and not my e-reader I might have considered throwing it against the wall.
OH and Mr. Koontz who were the random twin characters in here Henry and Jim? We have an awesome bad guy, a semi-plot that might actually trickle down to something but instead have nothing to do with Puzzle or Riddle or anything for this matter except the fact that he just happened to live next door to Grady. OH! I also don't understand that when Camille finds Jim's wife dead in the cellar how she just walks away and tells Grady, " I think Jim killed his wife," nonchalantly . There was no police involved? No one wondered what happened to these guys they just sort of disappeared at the end. I have no idea what their purpose was in this book at all. I think, however, that it would make a great book in itself. It just felt like ideas he was tossing around and decided to throw it in the book for good measure.
There is also Tom Bigger who has also nothing to do with anyone and meets a nice Jewish couple who decide to help him find his parents and he winds up saving one of the characters in this book. There was also no mention to him or the Jewish couple after that. He had also nothing to do with Puzzle or Riddle and I still am confused about why he was even there.
I just wanted so much more from this book and I was so disappointed to find out my time was wasted thinking this was a classic Koontz. Instead, it was just another failure by him . In my opinion, I would hold my breath to read this novel. It is up to you.

Need to fix your car?
You can even get an estimate on the repair from the various places that it pulls up in your area. For the heck of it this was another website that I decided to just play with and pop in things like Los Angeles, California where I found a Repair Pal there. It gave me a list of some auto repair places for the make and model I was searching for.
This site even answers the tough questions for you all by the touch of a button!
I also decided to look for a Head Gasket Replacement on Repair Pal. It told me everything from where a Head Gasket was located, to what could be wrong, all the way to recommendations and why this happens. On the right hand on the page you will see a list of common quotes to this repair.
This site has everything you are looking for in repairs to a vehicle and where you might get the most help for them.
I highly recommend trying it out even if you are just playing around like I was to see what it is they offer.http://repairpal.com/
Additional Sites to look at :
Los Angeles auto repair
Honda Civic
head gasket
Looking for automobile insurance?
You can then enter just a little bit of information about yourself to guide you to the right direction for auto insurance. When I entered my information I was sent to another page that linked me to a few different insurance places that gave me the most affordable rates available for my make and model of car I was looking for. I played around with this website a little bit and put in different cars including my dream car a Delorean.
What I really like about this website is that it really gives you almost in layman terms about the whole Fault vs. No fault when buying a car. It is like a guide to do's and do not's basically. For example , if you live in a no fault state it will tell you what is the policies and procedures for such.
If you click on the "Student" link you will be directed to a Glossary of automobile insurance terms and phrases such as what accident forgiveness may be, deductibles, Gap insurance, etc. If you don't know what these phrases mean just by what I gave you on here you should go take a look for yourself.
This website is really easy to access and you can find all sorts of quotes and rates on almost any car possible. It will definetly guide you into the right direction.
Here's the Deal : Don't touch me

To begin with I have always liked Howie Mandel. I know people that think he is freaky or scary but don't we all have our little quirks? There was some things in this book that almost made me want to hit Howie and go what the hell were you thinking?!
I laughed at the way he described things. I am one of those people that try to make a joke out of things that happen to me in my life because if you just sit around and mope about it , really it don't make it better it just makes it worse.
I loved the man in a dress on the airplane (if you read the book you will know - I am just trying desperately NOT to give out things) but yes, he did go overboard.
I feel sorry for his daughter in a way but in another way at least she has something to look back on and laugh together with him.
I understand how he feels about public toilets. I am not as paranoid about these things but I carry clorox wipes with me and still cover three or four layers of t.p onto the toilet seat before I sit down on it even then I am freaked about it all.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for him to write more. It really does give you an insight into the hell he has to deal with everyday and that these things ARE real and not made up. These are things we should think about in life.

Moved - temporarily
In all of this that happens of moving and stress the asthma I had as a child came back to haunt me and I wound up almost dying in my mother's shower because I thought some warm water would help revive me. Nope, it didn't. My daughter, my beautiful 8 year old daughter called my brother up who called 911 emergency services. In turn, when they got here Josie told them EVERYTHING that happened from the time I woke up and couldn't breathe, grandma leaving for work and her eating a piece of pizza to hear mommy gulping for air in the shower. She even told them my birthday, phone number, full name including married name that I used to be because I guess she found that essentially important, and my blood type which I wasn't even sure she even knew.
She was very helpful and I am greatful everyday that I was blessed with such a wonderful happy , smart and healthy (even with migraines) little girl.
I have some finals that need to be accomplished, an appointment at Ivy Tech, an appointment at Josie's new school, books to be mailed I sold on EBAY (which I probably won't be selling for a bit because everything is now in storage), and some other things to do this week. So, needless to say this week will go by really fast .
Also, i am using the internet that is floating around the air since my mother doesn't have internet or cable so I may not be on that often.
