Five Fun and Interesting books from Google Books

I don't know if any of you out there have ever heard of Google books. Basically, it is a list of a bunch of different books you can either read online on your computer or actually download. They are free ebooks! You can find different books there if you just look. Just note that some of them are NOT downloadable to your eReader but you can still read them on your computer. I have done this several times and Josie has found children's books she has read on her laptop.

I found 5 really FUN books on google books! (or at least I find them fun!)

Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know
By Alexandra Horowitz

Most of the reviews on Google Books say that it was a difficult read and not for the "average person". I found it really interesting. There is so many useful tips and tidbits in this book that you would never even know. This may be a "boring" or "dry" book for most people but how many people can say that now I understand that when a dog looks around a room he is not really seeing what humans see , he is actually seeing dog things. You have to look inside their head to get the perspective this book holds for you. It really is an interesting find and if you have a chance you should really read it (especially if you have a dog).

Brain Droppings
By George Carlin

OMG! Who can't love George Carlin?! The guy is classic! The book opens up with him in a supermarket check out line waiting for some dude to buy with his credit card a pack of TIC TACS! He describes everything as I have seen before or gotten frustrated with. He is just more verbal then I am on some of it. He also uses a lot of profanity so if that isn't your thing then don't open any of his books. " I am tired of being unable to buy clothing that doesn't have writing or printing all over it...," and he goes on to describe the clothing that is out there now that is basically walking advertisements for everything! I am also tired of the same thing. I don't mind some logos like bands and things like that but come on do I really need a t-shirt advertising condoms?! I love George Carlin and sorry that is he is gone. He will be well missed by me.

The Funny Thing Is...

I adore Ellen! She is awesome and funny and isn't afraid to try new things! I have liked her since I saw her television show awhile back.
Random fact : She is the FIRST (and only) female comic that was invited by Johnny Carson to sit down with him after her stand-up routine on the Tonight Show in 1986. ( I just learned this on GOOGLE BOOKS)

There was parts of this book that was a little drab, I will admit , at first I was like wow this is her everyday ramblings in her head-very unique idea but very boring. Then, there was parts of it I couldn't stop laughing. I was laughing so hard that I choked on my ice tea and my daughter was sitting on the couch patting my back. A lot of this was like her comedy routine on her HBO special and some of the things you hear her say or do on her show now. The part about prison was a little mixed media and I lost what exactly she was trying to get out. It wasn't a bad book at all and it was a fun and quick read. It is something you can read on a dark day and be cheered up by.

Fallen
By Lauren Kate

This is kind of like a teen romance novel with a lot of dark sci-fi stuff going on. Luce is new to this school and then falls in love with these two boys after a fire tragically takes her boyfriend (well sort of boyfriend). This book is provocative in its attempt to beat out the vampires and werewolves of this time. Luce is sort of like Bella from Twilight where she is a tragic young teen trying to find her place in the world and is now surrounded by the "unknown" and is falling for the wrong boys. The way Lauren Kate describes things is exciting. It was an exciting adventure read that any teen would enjoy. It wasn't as exciting as I found Twilight (yes, I am one of those fans) but I found it interesting and can't wait to read the next book of hers. I hope that this next book, however, will wrap things up in one warm fuzzy blanket and not continue to be a huge series because that will ruin this little series all together. This is something that shouldn't be going on for decades. I really admired her style and found it fun to read. It was also a very quick read.

Why do men have nipples?: hundreds of questions you'd only ask a doctor ...
By Mark Leyner, Billy Goldberg

Yes, I actually read this book. I had to, I had no other choice. My hand was forced as I searched through Google books and the words popped out of the screen yelling," OPEN THIS !" I did. I listened to my inner voice and was soon reading things I never thought I would ever know in a million years and found myself laughing out loud at some of the commentary inside. It also answered some vital questions about things medically I would never think of knowing. I now have some useless information stuck in my brain along with some useful information that I am not quite sure what I will do with yet. It answered some really odd medical questions . These are things you would never think of asking your doctor or you would after a martini or two as the title suggests. If you really want to know why you get bloated with salty foods, have cravings during your period, are hungry an hour after eating chinese food and a number of other things I suggest you open up this book. It is a very interesting find on my part and I really enjoyed reading it. I hope you will too.
